My name is Towfique and I am a fully qualified automatic driving instructor at Alfie’s Driving School. Having been teaching since 2019, I specialise in taking the stress out of learning to drive by focusing on the smooth, modern simplicity of automatic vehicles.

My Standout Moment
One of my absolute favourite highlights was teaching a mature student who had tried learning in a manual car with multiple instructors for years, constantly feeling overwhelmed by gears and stalling. English wasn’t her first language, so when she came to me, we switched entirely to her native tongue and focused on an automatic vehicle. Stripping away the clutch anxiety and explaining complex traffic rules in her preferred language completely changed her perspective. Why do I love what I do?
I absolutely love watching a nervous pupil transform into an independent, decisive driver. Knowing that my multilingual lessons remove a massive language barrier for people and give them the freedom to drive safely for the rest of their lives is the most rewarding part of my career.
Advice For New Learners
Don’t rush your observation habits just because the car handles the gear changes for you. In an automatic, your left foot rests completely, meaning you have less physical work to do, but your eyes and brain must remain fully active. Focus heavily on reading road signs early, checking your mirrors consistently, and mastering your speed control through busy junctions.
Test Day Tip
The examiner just wants to see that you are a safe, predictable driver who can manage the vehicle with full control. Treat the practical test exactly like a routine drive with me. If you misjudge a gap or take an incorrect turn, stay completely calm, keep your eyes on the road ahead, and let the automatic transmission handle the rest while you safely correct your course.
