My introduction

Hi, my name is Leon. Being a driving instructor is more than just a job for me. It’s a passion. Watching their confidence grow with every lesson and knowing that I have played a role in helping them achieve such a life-changing skill is incredibly rewarding.

My transition to automatic driving

In 2023, I transitioned to teaching automatic driving lessons to meet the growing demand and cater to the changing needs of learners; I started out as a manual instructor in 2005.

Test day tips

The single biggest tip I’d give anyone on their driving test day is to stay calm and focused. Treat it like any other lesson, and don’t let nerves take over. If something doesn’t go perfectly, don’t dwell on it just carry on. Remember, examiners are looking for a safe and confident drive, not perfection.

My standout moment

One moment that stands out above all others was helping a particular pupil with ADHD who doubted their ability to pass their test the first time. Watching them transform from someone filled with self-doubt to a confident, independent driver was incredibly rewarding. Their joy and gratitude reminded me why I love what I do—it’s about changing lives and giving people the freedom to drive.

Why do I love what I do?

Teaching is about more than just creating safe drivers. It’s about helping people gain independence and freedom. Watching my students grow into confident, capable drivers is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my job. I take pride in being part of their journey and would be honoured to help you achieve your driving goals.

Advice for new learners

When a new pupil starts out, my advice is simple:

  1. Take it one step at a time: Don’t rush the process. Building a solid foundation is the key to becoming a confident and safe driver.
  2. Stay calm and listen carefully: Mistakes are part of learning, and I’m here to guide you through them. Trust the journey, and don’t let self-doubt hold you back.
